Monarch transforms historic and existing structures into revitalized spaces that preserve architectural heritage while supporting modern functionality, sustainability, and long-term community value.
RESTORING HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE WITH INTEGRITY WHILE ENHANCING FUNCTIONALITY AND PRESERVATION
Historic buildings carry the stories, character, and identity of the communities around them. Monarch Design Group approaches historic preservation and adaptive reuse of projects with a deep respect for the architectural integrity of existing structures while thoughtfully adapting them to meet contemporary needs. Our goal is to preserve what makes a building meaningful while extending its life through purposeful, forward-thinking design. From historic renovations and restorations to adaptive reuse and redevelopment projects, Monarch understands the unique complexities these projects require, including existing building conditions, preservation standards, code upgrades, stakeholder coordination, and balancing historical authenticity with modern performance expectations. Whether revitalizing a landmark property, repurposing an underutilized structure, or modernizing a historically significant space, our team approaches each project with careful attention to detail, constructability, and long-term sustainability. Adaptive reuse also provides an opportunity to preserve community identity while reducing environmental impact through the thoughtful reuse of existing structures and materials. Monarch's proprietary Live Design technology enhances collaboration throughout the preservation process by allowing clients and stakeholders to experience and refine a live 3D model in real time. This interactive approach helps visualize how modern interventions integrate with historic architecture, streamlines decision making, and creates a shared understanding that keeps preservation goals and project vision aligned from concept through construction.

Monarch Design Group is spearheading the renovation of the historic Seagle Building, a celebrated 1920s landmark on the National Register of Historic Places. Tasked with revitalizing the first six floors, our vision channels the opulent Art Deco style of the "Great Gatsby" era—bold, glamorous, and timeless. This project highlights Monarch's expertise in blending meticulous historic preservation with modern luxury, promising a dazzling transformation that will reinvigorate this architectural gem. Completion is anticipated in two years, with a design that embodies grandeur and sophistication.

Theatre Park, located at 14900 Main Street in downtown Alachua, has a rich history as a former drycleaner, movie house, and later an open air community park. Its historic brick walls and archways long served as a beloved backdrop for local events and photos. Over the years, the park experienced significant overgrowth, flooding issues, and structural decline. In 2024, the City of Alachua’s Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Board reviewed Monarch Design Group’s design proposals to fully restore and enhance the space. The selected concept incorporated wrought iron features, clay fired brick, Florida-friendly landscaping, and an accessible performance stage. The renovation was supported in part by a $50,000 T Mobile Hometown Grant. Improvements included masonry restoration, structural reinforcement, new pavers, lighting, French drains, landscaping, furnishings, and a signature steel entry archway. What was once an overgrown, flood prone lot has been transformed into a functional venue for gatherings, performances, and community celebrations. For longtime residents and new visitors alike, Theatre Park stands today as a revitalized centerpiece of downtown Alachua, and Monarch Design Group is honored to have played a role in preserving this historic landmark. Projects like Theatre Park embody what matters most to us: creating beautiful, meaningful spaces that strengthen communities, celebrate local heritage, and bring people together.
